Some Days Are Better Than Others

There are days when we are out at a local eatery and run into a family who has adopted siblings from Ethiopia and they are out celebrating the third sibling's birthday (adopted by another family and they all hang out!). Then there is the day when Mike and Keni are strolling through the neighborhood, passing by a group of men when one loudly comments, "A white man and a black baby? That's f'ed up". (only he didn't say "f'ed"). There are days when we all get a good night's sleep and we enjoy the routine, the chores, and the unwinding when the sun goes down. Then there is the day when everyone is sleep deprived, grumpy, tired of being covered in snot, and tired of being tired. There are days that are super productive and I am able to solve a complex problem at work. Then there's the day when I practically have a panic attack at the Shaw's check-out because I can't find my car keys and I have to retrace my steps back to the florist to find my keys next to a jumbo mylar watermelon balloon. Why? Because I thought it might be fun to get my co-worker a giant watermelon balloon for her birthday. Instead I went with a huge "Happy Birthday" one (boring!) and then almost backed into someone when exiting the parking lot because it was taking up all of the shoulder and head space in the back seat of my car.

Yes, today was one of those days.

  1. Sorry to hear of your 'bad day'. Unfortunately, the human experience of parenthood includes the good, the bad and the ugly. Don't let ignorant 'passers by', lack of sleep or illness cramp your amazing style. Always remember you are loved and treasured by those who count - the weekend is just around the corner!
