Last week, I read this article and I worried.
Mike and I have our own very specific idea of the future - we dream about taking Keni back to Addis Ababa when he is older and traveling to the place where he was born. We plan to introduce him to his birth family. It's important to us that he is given the chance to learn as much as possible about his story. When I came across this article, I began to worry that things might not go according to our plan.
I think of them often - we look at pictures all the time. After seeing this article, I can't seem to get Keni's birth family off of my mind - especially his birth father. Mike and I felt this really cool connection with him, even though the only language we shared was the word "Kenenisa". I'm blown away by the fact that we are linked to these loving people in the southern region of Ethiopia and I feel powerless and scared for their well being.
On Father's Day, please do me a small favor and say a prayer, light a candle, buy a goat, or do what you do to send your good energy to Keni's Ethiopian family. Your energy and positive thoughts would be greatly appreciated. xo

What a gift you are to each other! Each one of you will have a special place in my prayers tonight. We're counting the days until we see you!
