Choices

While Mike and I enjoyed a tasty dinner last night at a little bistro which seats no more than 20, we reminisced about the choices we have made which have resulted in this precise moment, today. The fact that the two of us were sitting in that bistro, enjoying a romantic evening while our beautiful son was spending time cuddling with and kissing his grandparents felt very real and very right.

For as long as I can remember, my mom has said "Bean, life is all about choices." Well, ain't that the truth! The sum of all my choices thus far has me feeling very grateful.

If I had never gone to lunch with a lady who had just moved to the Boston area with her fiance, I would not have such an amazing friend who stood beside me on my wedding day and remains one of my closest confidants.

If we didn't take the chance on buying our first home in RI, I would not have the fulfilling career that I have today. Also, we would never own this great place which allows us to live so close to family.

If I hadn't gone into that consignment boutique to inquire about a second job, I would not have met such a strong and funny woman who has been there for me during the adoption journey and more (miss our regular meals out!).

There are so many examples of the decisions that I have made which have resulted in some pretty fantastic stuff. Now I would be remiss if I was painting a picture filled with sunshine and moonbeams. Life is certainly not always easy and we all have our struggles. It's completely satisfying to see what a struggle can lead to...

Mike and I had many decisions to make when it came to growing our family. If we had chosen to do things differently, I never would have had such a meaningful visit with a new friend and her daughter at our home last weekend. I am thankful for all of the bonus items that are included in this package.
